I tried really hard to write a morning post but I couldn’t. Instead I’m writing about why I can’t. Because writing first thing on a Monday morning seems very traditional; you’re sitting around a workshop and someone you can’t stand tells you they write every Monday morning because it’s a new week. Or something. There’s a kind of internal pushback (for me, at least) against fully embracing any of those norms. The fetishization of writing habits hasn’t worked out well. It’s led to terrible things, in the world and on Kickstarter. I prefer being nimble. I also can’t start writing without a cup of coffee, not even an email, so it’s not too nimble.
