One of those things I’ll never learn—since I’ve known about it either since I was a teenager or before—is not to drink too much coffee on an empty stomach. Also don’t drink coffee on a stomach full of only things somewhat liquid in nature. No matter how many calories the yogurt, protein shake, or (let’s face it) ice cream contains, it’s not going to provide the cushioning drinking an abusive amount of coffee requires. Today I managed to get to the point the coffee felt like it was coating a completely empty stomach, leading to vague dizziness and nausea. I know how to be better about getting caffeine from coffee—staying hydrated—but I didn’t considered the empty stomach when planning my day’s coffee ingestion.
