Ginned up enthusiasm

I like the phrase, ginning up. Basically, anything to do with gin, I at least intellectually like. I don’t even drink it anymore, but there’s just something nice about it. So ginning up enthusiasm. It’s something I’ve been seeing and hearing a lot lately. Or one could call it artificial hope. Like when you need to get to sleep and you work out some all right way for things to go, you’ve created artificial hope, you’ve ginned up enthusiasm for reality. Reality isn’t creating much enthusiasm or hope. At least not hopeful enthusiasm. It’s not just about the state of the world, it’s not just about politics, it’s about Apple even. People are creating these questionable parameters for success. It’s not useful… except as a coping mechanism, but if it’s going to be used as such, one needs to be very careful not to let it get out of hand.
